Hrithik Roshan A Journey Through Stardom

Early Life and Family Background

His father Rakesh Roshan continues to work as actor director producer after his grandfather Roshan Lal Nagrath defined his legacy as a music director from the 1940s through the early 1950s. Pinky Roshan a producer inherited her filmmaking background from producer J. Om Prakash.

The childhood experiences of Hrithik Roshan were challenging for him. Hrithik had an uncommon physical birth mark which caused deep embarrassment in his early life. He was born with an extra thumb on his right hand. A severe stammering condition troubled his ability to speak publicly or speak freely with others. Hrithik made a firm decision to defeat the obstacles that stood in his way. The actor took professional speech therapy classes plus daily practice that led to gradual improvement of his speech ability.

He attended Bombay Scottish School followed by graduation in commerce from Sydenham College. His academic prowess was strong yet the film industry continuously appealed to him particularly because of his family history.

Entry into Bollywood

It was really very early, and Hrithik’s first brush with acting. He was a child artist in some films like “Aasha” (1980), “Aap Ke Deewane” (1980) and “Bhagwan Dada” (1986). But it was not until much later when his full speed debut as a lead actor happened.

Hrithik used to assist his father on several of his films on the behind the scenes arena — “Karan Arjun” and “Koyla”, where he worked with his father on direction and became a part of the team.

His official entry as a leading man came with the 2000 romantic drama, “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai”. His father’s Rakesh Roshan’s ‘Pyaar Hain’. Career Ups and Downs

After his sensational debut, Hrithik worked in ‘Fiza’ (2000) and ‘Mission Kashmir’ (2000). The films in which he acted portrayed his range but hadn’t as much success as that of his debut. However, he starred in ‘Yaadein’ (2001), ‘Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage’ (2002) and ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge!’ (2002), the films which were not successful at the box office. The result was a short slump of his career and his debut success was being picked apart by critics, wondering if it was a one off.
Yet Hrithik made a shocking comeback with ‘Koi…. Again directed by his father, in 2003 he did ‘Mil Gaya’ (2003). In the film, he played Rohit, an alien-friend alien of a mentally challenged young man. The film was a commercial as well as a critical success and earned him his second Filmfare Best Actor Award. In addition, it also helped lay the first successful foundations of India’s first super hero franchise – ‘Krrish’.


Dancing Legend

Apart from his work as an actor, Hrithik is one of the best known of Bollywood dancers. His fluid movements, sharp expressions and athleticism has made him a stellar dance icon from the iconic “Ek pal ka jeena” to “Dhoom again” and “Bang bang”.

Often Michael Jackson has been one of his major influences, who has made Bollywood choreography in an international level. He stands apart from other dancers of his generation in that he is able to adapt to different dance styles such as hip hop, contemporary and classic.


Critically Acclaimed Performances

With “Lakshya” (2004) directed by Farhan Akhtar, the lazy, aimless young man turned into a disciplined army officer who Hrithik played. His nuanced performance was loved by one and all.

Hrithik proved that he can handle grandeur and gravitas as he portrayed Emperor Akbar in this historical epic titled “Jodhaa Akbar” (2008). His chemistry with Aishwarya Rai and regal performance were well appreciated.

In 2010, in emotional drama, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaariz, Hrithik played quadriplegic magician. The performance was of such a niche subject, but was widely lauded as aptly emotional and restrained.

Hrithik played mathematician Anand Kumar who trains underprivileged students for IIT-JEE in “Super 30” (2019). His versatility and his willingness to take part in meaningful cinema was a core theme that the film referred to.

Krrish Franchise and Action Hero Persona

The “Krrish” series – “Koi… The first cinematic superhero India had was with the movies “Mil Gaya” (2003), “Krrish” (2006) and “Krrish 3” (2013). From children to adults, everyone praised Hrithik’s portrayal of Krrish. It became extremely popular and ranks as one of his defining career moments.

Then, “Dhoom 2” (2006) came along wherein he took on the part of a charming thief alongside Aishwarya Rai and later, with “Bang Bang” (2014) and “War” (2019), making it one of the biggest grossing Bollywood ever.


Personal Life

However, Hrithik got married to his childhood sweetheart Sussanne Khan in 2000. The couple has two sons, Hrehaan and Hridhaan. But they filed for divorce in 2014 due to personal differences, while they are still close friends and co-parents.

For example, he has had several personal challenges, including a 2013 serious brain surgery to remove a blood clot. All this, however, did not drown him in watery grave, he has, instead, bounced back so hard with resilience.


Philanthropy and Public Image

It is known that Hrithik is a philanthropist. In addition to supporting various causes like children’s health, education and differently abled empowerment, he also maintains an ambition to mentor poor local school children. He is involved in campaigns against child abuse and substance addiction.

It has inspired millions in his personal fitness journey. In 2013, he launched his own fitness brand called HRX by promoting a holistic lifestyle.

Having being named one of the most attractive men in the world, he is nicknamed “Greek God of Bollywood”.
